    When Wei Wuxian arrived at Cloud Recesses, Lan Qiren strongly disliked the boy. For his impertinence and disobedience, yes, but mainly for how he was wasting his potential.
    Lan Qiren did not allow that to continue. He would turn that boy into a fine cultivator even if he had to get poor Wangji to watch over his every move.

    (And if he didn't notice the look on his nephew's face until it was too late... well. That was his mistake to regret for sixteen years. And after that? Maybe the boy had turned out well enough, in the end)

    Jiang Cheng entered the Sunshot Campaign with an unexpected ally, a creature in the form of a crow that could command resentment and other resentful creatures at will. The other sect leaders believed he had control over an unusually powerful yao, until it showed its true form on Qiongqi Path to whisk away the Wen remnants.

    With the help of an ingenious inventor by the name of Wei Wuxian, they seal it away. But nothing is ever that simple. With many believing the creature may be linked to the mysterious demon, the Yiling Laozu, that was said to be defeated years ago, it isn’t long until the seal is broken and it’s a race to figure out where the creature is as cultivators and entire Sects begin to be attacked.

    (Jiang Cheng thinks that's ridiculous. He may not know what Wei Wuxian is, but there's no way that idiot is a powerful, unknown creature comparable to a god. And Lan Zhan just wants Wei Ying to be safe.)
