CatNap doesn’t move. Something almost peaceful surrounds the toy cat, and it’s then that John understands what he’s witnessing: acceptance
He moves before he can think.
Or: Before CatNap can sacrifice himself to The Prototype, The Player interferes by shoving him out of the way. This opens up a whole new can of worms.

When they make it to El dorado, Maria finds herself very oddly attracted to the cities' high priest, Tzekel-kan. They slowly fall for each other blah blah blah read it to figure it out.
