Maomao was just packing up her things to move into the Jade Pavilion, mourning the quiet and peaceful life she could've had if she had not butted into a mess that didn't involve her to begin with.
But then, with a blink of an eye, she was transported into a strange room. She tried to explore to find nothing that would help her in her attempt to find a way out.
She was then suddenly joined by twenty-two others. Including... Her father? And the rest of her family from the pleasure district? The Emperor?!
Everything only got more complicated when a being who seemed like they were nearly glowing suddenly appeared in the front of the strange room.

It was... weird, having all these animals being near their home.
Brightbill wasn’t really sure what to think when he heard almost the entire forest stayed in their house during a winter storm- which he is fascinated that everyone managed to fit but Roz has always been good at figuring stuff like that out- but he really isn’t sure how to feel right now. All the other animals usually kept a large berth away from this place and them, barring Pinktail and her kids and sometimes Paddler. Brightbill feels like he should be more grateful that everyone cares about Roz so much now that they’re willing to help rebuild his home and he knows he should be happy because the other animals like them now but...
But Roz was leaving for who knows how long soon. So he wasn’t sure how to feel about anything anymore.

He reluctantly brought the kid around the forest as Brightbill repeated every new word he learned with childish enthusiasm. After a run-in with Pinktail that led to Brightbill calling him 'Papa,' Fink started to question his role in the gosling’s life and his relationship with his robotic companion.

Thirty years later, after dodging soul deals, keeping her head down, and forming a public persona to cut loose and cause trouble with with, she receives a call to shake things up from her friend Angeldust; free room and board and a chance to get in the good books with the Princess of Hell herself, and maybe if her crazy scheme works, redemption. He forgets to mention Princess Charlie's business partner is the one demon Bree made a point to avoid early on, even as she did odd jobs for other Overlords.

His eyes don't stop following the same route towards the calendar hanging on the wall and his mind cannot help but be filled with doubts and ideas that in the end end up mixing with the indecipherable feelings that run within him, creating a whirlwind of concerns focused on his stomach that makes him feel like he needs to throw up.
And all thanks to that specific day marked in red on the calendar, which just happened to be the next day.

Alastor has faced some of the greatest evils that have ever existed - has stood firm in back alleys against overlords stronger than him, has several times dodged exorcist spears and even divine guitars.
He is NOT going to be defeated by a fucking HOTEL ROOM and the desperate housewife from HELL.
Alternative summary: Alastor spends a sizeable amount of time locked in single combat with a hotel room door, Vaggie grows as a person, Lucifer Morningstar is Very Concerned that his ex-wife and current-whatever may be getting along too well, Charlie spends a lot of time being confused, Frederick von Eldrich comes out of retirement with style, the Archangel Michael develops a headache, and Vox attempts to de-bug his conscience.
There are also copious musical references for no good reason whatsoever.

Summary
Instead of sending Vontra to collect Roz, Universal Dynamics has instead tasked her with observing the Rozzum unit's strange behavior in its "natural habitat." As they spent more and more time together, Vontra's growing fondness for Roz became increasingly obvious, much to Fink's dismay.
Despite his efforts, Fink had not yet overcome his feelings for Roz which made his jealousy rear its ugly head whenever he saw Vontra making advances towards her.
