Aerion was known to be the Monstrous. A Prince to be wary of because of his tendency to be cruel, to be manipulative and destructive all at once.
He was destined to go mad and die, like many other Targaryens… before and after him, alike.
But, if given the chance to try once more, to make different choices and to change the course set by the Gods themselves—
would the Mad Prince take the chance to make it into a blessing—to take it a second chance at life, or would he see it a curse—a punishment and hell, just another thing to destroy carelessly… to run away from?

My Prince—if he wakes—the lad you knew will not return to you. The damage to the brain is irreversible, we gathered that he will not speak as he did and he will not think as he did. I have seen many men and women after injuries like this. Should he open his eyes, he will be—he will be as a sweet babe, childlike if the shards had not taken away his wits as well. He will need to be cared for, fed and clothed for the rest of his days just as an infant would.”
After an injury leaves Aerion Targaryen far different than before and entirely reliant on his family, Maekar Targaryen does his best to take care of his son.
