Summary
A belated contribution for the Janeuary prompt 'Dearest' as requested by an anon <3
Miss Catherine ‘Kitty’ Bennet was the dearest child of neither her mother nor father. Those positions belonged to Lydia Wickham and Elizabeth Darcy, respectively. Yet Kitty did not mind, because that honour seemed to come paired with being the least dear to the opposing parent.
Kitty, accompanying Georgiana in town for the season and staying with Elizabeth and Mr Darcy in their London home, falls in love... with Colonel Fitzwilliam. But his father has certain expectations of his prospects, and Kitty has some realisations about her family to make. Yet her heart just keeps falling for him deeper and deeper.

Summary:
Elinor would have thought that now that the fatal subject had been aired, her nerves would have calmed; but her hands were trembling, her pulse fluttering even more violently than before.
Notes:
For abluestocking.
In which two young men were able to finish their conversations without being interrupted... and in the wake of those conversations, a different happy ending forms.
Characters and events from the 1995 movie with a few non-conflicting details filled in from the book; because even though the actors' ages correspond to their characters much better in the 2008 version, I also will always first envision Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson in the roles of Brandon and Elinor. :) -

Summary
"That sister of yours," Papa said, his knife flashing, "flies through life on swift wings, much as her mother does. While you, my mouse, are my child through and through; we neither of us choose to leave the solid earth under our feet."
Elinor knew herself to be most closely aligned with Papa, but had not framed the differences between her parents — or between herself and Marianne — as such a stark dichotomy. "And Margaret?" she asked, curious about how her youngest sister was viewed.
Papa chortled as he set the first pencil down, the point fine and sharp, the smell of shaved wood spicing the air. "Margaret would swim the oceans with a knife in her teeth if she could," he said, and Elinor could not help laughing too. "Today the Channel, tomorrow the Atlantic."
