Something in Eva twitches at the comment. Its not to say she’s even remotely close to having a horse in this race of a breakdown Ryland Grace seems insistent to have in front of her, but Eva hates to be considered incompetent in any field. Even if that field was the alternate universe in which her and Ryland Grace were fucking.
Now call it some combination of her previous ruminations, a few year’s worth of camaraderie and pure stress, but for once Stratt fails to properly think about what she mutters under her breath before it escapes:
“As if you would top.”
