But underneath all that, Hythlodaeus knows there is a man who feels deeply and has a tendency to overthink a great many things. And he knows when the other man is putting up a front.
After the events of Elpis, Hades has some difficulties coming to terms with losing some of his memories. Luckily, he doesn't have to face those on his own.

Summary
They had been at this game for some time; every time Hades approached climax he was stopped by Hythlodaeus in some newly cruel way. Sometimes he stopped his movement entirely, denying Hades the crucial friction necessary to get him off. Other times he quickly bit down on Hades' wrist or neck or shoulder, hard and painfully enough to distract him from the imminent release (there was a lot of swearing after these ones). And then there was Hades' least favourite method and the one currently employed, a quickly drawn violet sigil placed on his lower abdomen that let him thrust as long and as hard as he liked, but orgasm would never come.
Or, Hythlodaeus torments Hades because he can.

“Right,” Helios muttered, shaking themself but unable to tear their gaze from Hythlodaeus’ slowly rising form. “In class they taught us that a person’s aetherical form is frequently unexpected, but I still wasn’t expecting… this.”
“It’s a perfect expression of his soul.” Hades wiped his eyes and took a deep, wavering breath. “And we’re already predisposed to find him attractive. I wonder how strong the effect would be on other people…”
Helios put their hand on Hades’ shoulder, making him jump slightly. “We’re not going to share this with anyone else.”
“Of course not,” Hades snapped with all the scorn he could muster. “Don’t be ridiculous. This is just for him. And us. I was merely speculating aloud.”
