I stood up.
I smiled.
He smiled, but his eyes told me everything.
He opened his mouth.
I wanted to tell him not to say it, but something in me wanted to hear it loud and clear.
The words left his mouth like how life leaves people.
He said it.
I gazed down.
Maybe this was it... Maybe this was what I was waiting for... The reality to slap me in the face and it hurts, but I had expected it.
A tear escaped my eye and fell down to the stone-cold pavement.
I was finally crying.

Summary

When he had said the words, he knew what they had meant, the weight of the responsibility he was taking on. However, like life often did, it had thrown them for a loop.

Jiang Cheng sucks in a sharp breath. “What year do you think it is, Wei Wuxian?”
“2001,” Wei Wuxian says, and then cracks up when Jiang Cheng’s eyes widen in alarm. “Calm down, I’m just kidding. I know it’s 2014.”
Jiang Cheng stares at him.
Wei Wuxian is quiet for a beat. “I presume from your reaction that it is not actually 2014.”
“No,” Jiang Cheng says softly. “No, it’s not.”
(Or, the one where Wei Wuxian loses his memories, and tries to figure out why he isn't dating Lan Wangji yet.)

Wei Wuxian gets diagnosed with CRPS after spending over three years in agonising pain. When he least expects it, Lan Wangji, Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng all step up to help him, even when Wei Wuxian doesn't tell them what's going on at first.
(AKA. Jiang Siblings and Lan Wangji being the best family that Wei Wuxian needs)

When Lan Wangji buys the house, Wei Wuxian fully intends to drive him off too. Except Lan Wangji is beautiful, and interesting, and captivating company - even if he supposedly doesn't know Wei Wuxian exists.

A small transgression has been made against the Lan sect, and Wei Wuxian in particular, though the person who did it couldn't have known. The juniors, however, take it very seriously. Wei Wuxian doesn't understand how seriously, or how much his tendency to adopt juniors from various sects at every opportunity has affected said juniors.
