"Cats sometimes purr in a specific frequency when they want something from their human, be it food or playtime. They might even use them to convince their human to stop working and go to bed (particularly if they're used to cuddling with them at night, or they're keeping them awake). Cats also purr, with a different frequency, to self-soothe, sometimes to get themselves ready to sleep.
Anyway, this has made me imagine a silly scenario: It's season one and Martin, a catboy, is staying at the Archives. One night Jon is working far too late and Martin, who's ready for bed tries to convince him to leave or at least sleep on the couch, non-purposefully purring up a storm in the meantime. But it works so Martin occasionally purrs when he really wants to get Jon to do something, such as eat lunch or sleep at a reasonable hour. And Jon finds himself very, very easily swayed."
