Adora couldn’t tell you what it feels like to work hard. Everything she’s ever done, 4.0 GPA, sports scholarship, star player on BMU’s girls soccer team has been effortless.
Though Glimmers roommate, seemingly volatile, fascinates her. And talking to her certainly isn’t easy. She’s never met someone like her, and is convinced she won’t again. Can that mean nothing?College AU, since we all need a pick me up sometimes. (I’m talking about myself I wrote this for me)

Adora loves her family, and she loves her job. She doesn't love when her family forces her to do things take a vacation right before one of the most important launches of her career. The last thing she expects from this unwanted trip is to run into a ghost from Christmases past.
Catra has never been good at letting anything go. Hence her impulsively buying the Christmas tree farm from her childhood to save it from closure. But when the farm miraculously brings Adora back to her, she knows this time she will have to find a way to say goodbye gracefully. After all, Adora is only here until the holidays.

Catra shrugs, evidently unwilling to say anything else. Catra froze. Runner Girl was early today. Catra let the ball of wire lights tumble from her hands and got to her feet, slowly walking to the edge of the aisle to get a clear look at the coffee bar.
“It’s festive, dearie!” Razz called from the front register.
“It’s gonna drive me to homicide before my shift ends,” Mermista droned from the counter.
Catra exhaled slowly and shook her hands out. Today was going to be the day. She'd promised herself that much on Tuesday. She could hide in the shadows of these bookshelves forever, stealing glances at the girl of her dreams, or she could finally step into the light and say something. Anything.

“Hey, Adora.” Catra smirks, her surprise only given away by the familiar twist of her eyebrows. She looks warm and out of place with the cluttered kitchen behind her. “Did you know Razz here makes the best pie?”
“You know what pie is?” That wasn’t the right question to ask. She needs to know why Catra is here and if Razz is in danger, but it’s the first thing that comes out.
Catra rolls her eyes. “There was always contraband food around, Adora. You were the only one too high and mighty to try it. Stupid, considering you’re always starving.” Adora stares in disbelief, losing focus as she watches Catra’s black nails drum against the scuffed wood of Razz’s counter.
“Oh. I always wanted to give you the new things I tried.” Adora replies, trying to disguise the disappointment in her voice as she refocuses on Catra’s face.
Catra narrows her eyes and scoffs. “You should’ve thought about that before you left.”
OR
Adora and Catra start running into each other at Madame Razz's cottage. For some reason, they both keep ending up back there again. Season 2 canon divergence.

Whoever the hell Catra’s soulmate was, they seemed to get banged up a lot. She was always waking up with random marks. For the first few years, it was the normal dings that a kid gets. In her teens, the bruises got bigger, like they were into karate or football or some other kind of contact sport. Over the last couple of years though, Catra had started to receive marks in the middle of the night. At first, she thought her soulmate was a cop (which, gross cause ACAB). Maybe a burglar? She’d hoped maybe they were a certain firefighter she knew. Last night confirmed it though.
Catra, who never had anything normal happen to her, was matched with a godsdamn 8-foot tall glowing monster. How fitting.
All she ever wanted was to hide in the background and be medium-happy. That wasn’t a lot to ask! Now she knew she was bound – completely, cosmically, irrevocably – to something weird and supernatural.
Catra was, quite honestly, scared shitless.

"Adora that's a little dramatic. They said you could get a place in the next town over, right?" Bow placates, trying to be the voice of reason.
She runs a hand through her hair. “They said maybe I could. And they probably said that to every poor sucker who got snowed out of their cabin." She doesn't think there are any odds of getting a cabin within an hour of this town.
"Hold on, where are you exactly?" Glimmer asks, after the phone clatters. She sounds farther away like she's on speaker.
"I'm in Maine." She just wants to get away from it all, but this isn't what she had in mind.
"Oh! Do you know who's also there? Catra!"

“You kissed me.” Those three words coming from Adora’s mouth should sound perfect, after all the yearning Catra’s felt, but Adora’s voice was too distraught for Catra to feel warmth.
“I’m pregnant,” Catra revealed, watching Adora’s face crumple.
“You kissed me,” Adora repeated, this time bitterly. Catra’s heart sank as Adora’s eyes watered and her eyebrows furrowed, “you kissed me, whilst I have a girlfriend and you’re pregnant.” Catra opened her mouth but she was speechless. Slowly, she hugged herself, teary eyes, “I’m going.” Adora stormed toward the exit. Catra went to speak when Adora turned around, and suddenly Catra shrunk under Adora's stare. For just a moment, Adora’s eyes softened, the gaze that Catra loved returning, before her stare hardened. Catra blinked tears down her cheeks, trailing from her jaw to the floor.
“I’m sorry,” Catra said, and Adora walked out.
