Summary
“Your destiny has not yet come, but it will… it will shine gold beneath the sun, red beneath the candles, and lightning will live within its eyes,” the woman had said, her voice soft but edged like a blade. “Your happiness, and your very survival, depend upon the elm. Do not stray from its shade.”
or: Isolda, Lyonel's ex-wife, thought she could get him back, unaware that deer already had an owner

Summary
The prince’s eyes are dry now, and he sits hunched over Ser Duncan’s gauntlets with his knobby little fingers scrubbing at the armor like it’s the most important thing in the world, although Pate catches him frozen a few times, staring at the shallow rise and fall of Ser Duncan’s chest. He says nothing about it. The work of cleaning the armor is thoughtless, methodical, and Pate loses himself in that for a while, in the steady, well-practiced motion of his hands, in the small comfort of fixing what little is in his power to repair.

Summary
Dunk never felt so young as he did around Egg. Young, and terrified, and stupid. So he had to be tall, for the both of them, even though sometimes what he wanted, more than anything else, was for someone bigger and stronger and kinder to pat him on the head and tell him it would all be fine.
