Nico tensed at the mention of his nightmares; the Tartarus fueled visions of punishment and pain that so often plagued his nights.
“A lot of demigods get nightmares.” Nico reminded him.
Clovis looked at the raven with knowing eyes as he answered. “Not like yours Nico.”
The raven flinched before looking away as the son of Hypnos continued.
“The Seven may get most of the credit Nico, but you suffered to protect us. You sacrificed so much to make sure that demigods like myself and my siblings can sleep; so that we can rest knowing we have warriors like you to watch over us.”
Clovis caught Nico’s hand and pressed the necklace into his palm.
“We only have sleep to offer Nico; only dreams to give. So in our realm you shouldn’t have to keep fighting; you shouldn’t have to be afraid.”
AKA: The Solangelo Dreamscape AU Where when a gift from the god of sleep is given to the only son of Hades it seems like Nico's nightmares will finally end.
But the ending of too sweet a dream can be its own kind of nightmare.

On this day Hades could hear happiness in his palace in the form of a half hummed melody filling the halls around his son's room. Hades knew the song from so so long ago; when he had more freely walked the earth in Hellenistic times.
It was a song to summon sleep and healing. A melody to soothe and keep nightmares away.

Will was 11 years old when he coughed up his first petal. It was thin and white and when he asked a child of Demeter about it later she told him it came from a lily.
It made his heart race and his breath catch as he stared at it in horror.
Every child of Apollo knew what coughing up petals meant; it was as ingrained into them as much as a love of the sun was.
It meant he was dying.

It's not fair, because he's beautiful. Beautiful in a way that men almost aren't meant to be, and he's kind. Kind in a way that's rare, and in a way that's seldom real, and he's a dork, is what Lucas thinks to himself as they walk halfway across campus, talking about anime and Dungeons and Dragons and how Lucas wants to be a cardiologist and Thomas is supposed to inherit his family's business, the streetlamps shining down like moons enraptured in their own, individual orbits. It's beautiful, and he's beautiful, and Lucas could have told him right then and there and meant every word of it like it’s how he's felt for years.
But he didn't, of course.
He knew.
He knew love wasn't something he was meant to have. Not like that.
