“Listen, Kavah,” Darya, his sister, spoke his eyes moved from Nahid to her, “I’ve been meaning to talk to you, about…”
Kavah was already getting mad. He hated not knowing things. “About what?”
“I think it’s best if we stop bringing Nahid here, at least, until she’s older.”
Kavah felt cold. Cold wasn’t a feeling he had been familiar with. Yet, sweat built up at the bottom of his temples.
He instantly stood up, Nahid’s eyes following him. Her hand going to her mouth, and Darya moving it. “What do you mean? You heard them, I’ve been good, I could get out early and–”
“And seeing her father through a piece of glass once every two weeks is no way to raise a child."
