The ground is soft green underneath her body. She takes long, shuddering gulps of air. A healthy infant would cry after birth; Wen Qing does not.

    Wen Qing turns up at Dafan Mountain at the same time that "Mo Xuanyu" does. She can't remember the past thirteen years, and every time she tries, she ends up in incredible pain. There must be a curse at work. Fortunately, Sect Leader Jiang has offered her his unconditional assistance.

    Wei Ying abandons her suitcase to investigate the sleeping situation, already coming up with a hundred reasons not to inconvenience Lan Zhan by stealing half of her fucking bed, and then gets a better look at it.

    It’s huge. Wei Ying has seen a king bed before, and this is bigger than that. Is that a California King? Is that what those huge-ass orgy beds are called? There are parking spaces smaller than this bed. Wei Ying has lived in apartments smaller than this bed.

    “You know,” Wei Ying says thoughtfully, “I’ll level with you. I was gonna volunteer to sleep on the couch, or steal some pillows and blankets and sleep in the bathtub, but then I saw this monstrosity. Lan Zhan, look at this fucking bed.”

    Lan Zhan rests her hands on the room divider, her face softly amused. “I am looking.”

    “We could tend a whole herd of sheep on this bed,” Wei Ying says, warming to her subject. “We could cross the Pacific Ocean and weather any storm on this bed. Fuck, Lan Zhan, I could stage an entire community theatre production of Chicago on this bed.”

    Or: There was only one bed, but that part's fine, actually.

    Mianmian breathes out a harsh sigh, crossing her arms over her chest as she levels him with the hardest glare she could muster. “Are you doing this just so that I can send your stupid letter?”

    “No - “ Jin Zixuan starts, before saying, “I mean, well, if you still wanted to, I would like for it to be you, but I do have a courier lined up in the case that you don’t."

    Mianmian’s lips pull into a thin line. And then, begrudgingly, she holds out her hand. “I owe you. For protecting the others. But this is a one time thing, do you understand me?” she asks, her voice hard and stern. Emulating Madame Jin’s ire.

    Jin Zixuan reacts appropriately. Carefully, he pulls a small parcel out of his qiankun pouch and hands it to her with both hands. Respectful.
