Wolfwood turned to his other side and found Vash staring out into the middle distance with a small frown.
An annoyed huff escaped him. “Needle-noggin, this ain’t no time to space out.”
Still no answer. Which wasn't unusual per say—sometimes Vash just tuned out for a while, lost in memories or thoughts that were decidedly none of Wolfwood’s business—except for the fact that they were in the middle of a shootout.

Bandits are attacking a Sandsteamer to steal the resident Plant and of course Vash, Wolfwood, and Meryl end up in the middle of it. The whole thing would be much easier to handle if something bad wasn't happening to Vash at the same time.

Bruce gave him a flat look.
“Or maybe I think I can help.”
“With a case of vandalism?”
Clark stepped in front of him. “It’s not vandalism and you know it, detective.”
“And what makes you say that?”
“If it were vandalism it would be something a lot more juvenile. To the point. It wouldn’t claim there were seventeen missing kids. That’s public outcry.”
“Is that so?”
“That and I tried to do a story on the growing number of homeless children last month and I got shut down. According to the last count, the numbers have been decreasing, but there’s been no change in policies, no extra funding to CPS, or shelters, or even an increase in the number of inmates in the juvenile detention center. So where are they going?”
Detective Bruce Wayne may have the highest solve rate in Gotham, but if he wants to solve this case, he’ll need the help of an elusive street kid, and while Dick Grayson always lands on his feet, he usually lands himself right into trouble.
