He would always be selfish with her, would always take and take and take, would always keep her tethered, would never allow anyone else to get close to what he had of her, would never let her give what she gave to him to anyone else. Distantly, it’s all he ever wanted, the only thing he craved besides freedom, and he wanted it bad. He wanted to hear her choose him, again, wanted her to look past his sins, past right and wrong, just to be with him a little longer.
