Finally, in a moment of peace, Murong Lian let the sticky-sweet lethargy weigh down his limbs, let himself melt into the arms holding him, let himself be held. He figured, maybe, those two nuisances mooching off him and living in his home at least knew how to make themselves useful sometimes — at least they felt real and warm and present enough for him to share a bed, a life, a heart with. He supposed they were worth keeping around, even though they so annoyed him.
