Wednesday spends her nights behind a camera lens; Enid, her social media-savvy roommate, spends hers in front of one. But as Enid’s online life goes viral, she drifts further and further out of reach. At first, Wednesday doesn’t care. Why would she? She’s immune to the shallow dopamine drip of likes and followers. Or at least, she tells herself that.
Liking every post started out of spite. Then it became a ritual—a pathetic way of staying connected. And she’s perfectly content to yearn from a distance.
Until Enid posts the caption: “What do you do when the person you want is right there but won’t even look up from their camera?”
And, well, now Wednesday is utterly doomed.

Her expression did not change.
“Not if you were… replaced.”
The word hung between them.
Replaced.
Xavier blinked.
Then he huffed out a short, incredulous laugh.
“Replaced? With who? Ajax can barely tie his own shoelaces without supervision.”
Wednesday did not laugh.
Did not blink.
Did not shift.
Her stillness sharpened.
Xavier’s smile faltered slightly.
“…You’re not serious.”
She rose from the chair with unhurried precision.
Boots silent against the concrete floor.
The studio seemed to shrink around her—shadows bending subtly in her direction.
Her voice lowered half a degree.
“Hypothetically,” she said, “if you were unable to attend due to prior obligation… and a qualified substitute presented himself…”
“Himself?” Xavier interrupted automatically.
Her gaze flicked upward to meet his.
Unblinking.
Intent.Or.... the one where Wednesday poses as a boy to go to the boy's fencing team nationals. Enid will be at nationals, volunteering as an assistant for volunteer hours and she is VERY intrigued by the new "boy".
