“Nothing,” Keith grunts. His arms are crossed so tightly that it looks painful.
“Are you sick?” Lance asks. “‘Cause no offense, but you look terrible.”
He watches as Keith’s nostrils flare, and his eyes fall shut for a few moments. He even takes a deep breath, like he’s praying for patience.

He’s not dense— he knows what this would be if this were anyone else, if this were a cute girl he’d picked up at a bar that he’d wined and dined and cuddled with all night on the couch.
