Summary
Something smells so good. Wei Ying closes his eyes, already feeling sleepy, and tries to identify where the scent is coming from. He turns his face to one side and then the other, chasing it, until his nose touches Lan Zhan’s cheek.
He pulls back quickly, not freaking out, because it’s fine. He touched Lan Zhan’s cheek with his nose, and Lan Zhan smells really fucking good, and they’re lying down together on a very soft bed because Lan Zhan is too drunk to let go of him, and Lan Zhan is gay but Wei Ying isn’t, and it’s fine.
Wei Ying swallows hard and closes his eyes again.

Wei Ying helps Lan Zhan out of an uncomfortable situation, and they grow close right away, becoming instant friends. To Lan Zhan, they become instant something else. With time, they only get closer and closer, and Wei Ying is forced to deal with his own feelings about Lan Zhan, and his perception of his own sexuality.

“I…Yes, of course,” Lan Wangji prevaricates. He’s too well-disciplined to fidget, Wei Wuxian would guess, but it’s painfully clear that he wants to. “I understand.”

At least everyone thought so, including him.
Maybe he should have even stayed dead. That might have been easier than watching Lan Wangji, Hanguang-Jun, Lan Zhan, look at him with absolutely no recognition in his eyes.
Having your spine ripped out by a giant turtle hurt. But being ignored by the person you gave your life for, the person you gave up everything for - that might actually be worse.
