It’s a perfectly normal day until it isn’t. Shane is hurt in a mugging and he and Ilya have to find a way through injury and healing together.
He should just give the man his wallet. That’s what they say to do, isn’t it? Shane should hand over his wallet then the man would leave. There was no reason to be a hero or a tough guy, there was nothing in his wallet worth the kind of trouble someone who hides their face and attacks from behind is capable of.

He stared at the screen. His body was thrumming, vibrating with a desperate, pent-up energy that made his skin feel too tight.
It had been two days. Two days of Ilya saying start. Two days of Ilya saying stop. Two days of being edged until his brain felt like it was melting out of his ears. The ache in his balls was a dull, constant throb, a pressure that bordered on agony.
But it felt so good.
Shane doesn't remember saying yes. He doesn't remember much of anything from that night in Vegas, except the heavy, suffocating weight of Ilya Rozanov pinning him to the mattress.
The next day he's fallen to pieces, and Ilya knows just how to put him back together again: the ouroboros devouring its tail.

"It just works better like that. Taking his mind off of the logistics and the meaning of it all and the implications lets him put that focus to better work on the actual thing he cares about: hockey. It really isn’t that different from outsourcing his branding to Mom, or any less embarrassing than his dietician meal prepping for him or his trainer mapping out his workout plan. They’re experts in their field, nutrition and marketing and fucking. Shane is an expert in his: taking all that into his body and using it to be fucking awesome at hockey. It’s win, win, win.
Meals get delivered at his door. Room numbers and plans get texted to him. And appointments with photographers get emailed with subject lines reminding him to remember to use the good shampoo in his hair before them.
He’s still in control in the sense he’s letting it all happen for him, except that sometimes, especially at these stupid fucking photoshoots, it feels a little bit like it’s happening to him, instead."
Shane gets into a bad situation with a photographer who has pictures Shane would rather not get out. Ilya and Rose find out about it, eventually.
