Imogen kissed the veil, pressing it to Laudna’s cheek. “It doesn’t matter what you look like.” She gripped Laudna’s head, behind the ear, and Imogen’s eyes lit up white as her thoughts sounded in Laudna’s brain. You sound the same in here.
Laudna frets about showing Imogen her form of dread.

Summary
The rock shattered in her hand and with it, her own heart as Imogen looked at her with those eyes, as she walked away and Laudna tried to follow, tried to go, but her legs froze her to the spot. Did she break them too? Was it all a mess?
What if she became the same marionette that she felt she was in Delilah's hands? Strings cut and left on a bed, wouldn't that be much better for them? Would Imogen come to see her?

Imogen was not very good at being a lake. Or, her body was not good at it. It was sneezing, her body, trying to expel the cold before it could sink in.
Laudna should light a fire. Her fingers twisted in the motions for one, but halted as she remembered why they were huddled beneath the tarpaulin so near to the glittering lights of a cozy little town. They had gold in their purse, real gold, and an inn in mind to stay at. One with solid walls and roaring fires that would expel the cold from Imogen’s body far better than all that sneezing.
Laudna has a brilliant idea to add some color to her face and Imogen fixes the aftermath.

Summary
The first time Imogen told Laudna about the storm it was, appropriately, storming.
Laudna’s eyes had been swallowed by a blackness darker than that of the night surrounding them, catching and reflecting even the most minuscule scatterings of light in a way that made her gaze look full with shooting stars. She had taken her leather-shielded hand to hold in both of hers as she listened. It was the first time she could remember someone taking her hand simply to hold.
She said, here is what she knows of the storm: it is unrelenting, it is violent, it is hers.
In the time that has passed since that night the same things that have changed about the storm have changed for her and Laudna—which is to say, nothing at all.

Summary
When Laudna closes her eyes now, the shape imprinted on the back of her eyelids is Imogen, a purple smear on the darkness of her consciousness. Lavender eyes light up. Her mouth twists into a smile, and Laudna hears that voice in her head: I hope I’m not interrupting anything.
It takes her a very long time to realize the voice has come, actually, from Imogen, projected into her mind via their connection, like a long and winding dirt path between two idyllic locales. Laudna wanders it with familiarity into the open fields of Imogen’s mind, with gently swaying grasses and buttery sunlight aplenty. Oh, how nice it is. Dissociating is far more pleasant with Imogen around.
or: imogen and laudna are there for each other - or trying to be - and this is what happens when two anxious girls in love have panic attacks.

Summary
There’s a mix of emotions swirling in the depths of Laudna’s eyes - a vulnerability she’s not used to seeing - an intensity there that burns her, has her feeling shaken and seen all at once.
Imogen tries to avert her eyes, but Laudna is quick to lift her hand - the one not holding tight against her own - to caress Imogen’s chin, forcing Imogen to look at her.
“Would you kiss me again?”
