Okay so CAPTAIN SHANE HOLLANDER 🔥🔥
He is awesome in this. Love seeing him be assertive when the situation calls for it, taking charge and commanding the room. He walks into the raider's locker room and owns it (RIGHTFULLY).This has all the groundworks of a fantastic Boston Shane fic, even if it doesn't head in that direction... Shane and Ilya are set up for success in this fic, with Ilya having a proper support system that loves him (and I'd hate for him to lose that) ❤️❤️
“Ilya—” Shane began.
“He was a terrible man,” Ilya interrupted quietly. “And a very mean person.”
His jaw tightened.
“I am not supposed to feel like this.”
Shane shook his head gently.
“Ilya… you can still feel sad.”
Ilya frowned slightly, confusion flickering across his face.
Shane spoke carefully.“Ilya, you can feel sad about losing your father.” he said. “You can also be sad for everything you never got from him.”
“All I ever wanted…” Ilya’s voice faltered.
For a moment he couldn’t continue.
“I just wanted him to say he was proud of me.”
“When he got sick,” Ilya continued after a moment, his voice softer now, “I thought maybe… maybe the illness would take that part of him away.”
Shane listened silently.
“The part that hated me.”
Ilya gave a small, humorless breath.
“I thought maybe then he would finally say it.”
His eyes lowered again.
“I was stupid to believe there was a part of him that did not hate me.”
“But I have no mother or father.”
The words were simple, but the emptiness in them was crushing.
Shane thought for a moment, then he shrugged lightly.
“Okay,” he said. “Then we can share mine.”
Ilya blinked.
Shane’s lips twitched slightly.
“I’m sure you’d even end up being their favorite son.”
And he wants Ilya to meet his parents (as his BF!! 😍)
“We were drafted together,” he said quietly. “Got pushed into a rivalry from before the NHL.”
His voice was calm, steady, but there was something deeper underneath it now.
“We became captains at the same time. We carry the same kind of weight.”
He paused briefly, searching for the right words.
“On the ice… we deal with the same expectations. From teammates, coaches, fans… hell, even our countries sometimes. There’s no one in this league—” he corrected himself softly, “no, no one in this world, who gets me like he does.”
A small breath.
“And there’s no one who gets him like I do.”
Ahh, they are so precious and snuggly and there's love confessions and tenderness and caretaking, a comforting shower, and cuddling and all the good things ❤️
“Hey,” he said quietly, his hands moving carefully as he began to help Ilya out of his clothes. “Just let me take care of you, okay?”
Time stretched. Neither of them made a move to pull away. Then Shane felt it. A slight shift. A tremor. Ilya was shaking. Crying again. Shane started to pull back, instinctively wanting to see his face, but Ilya tightened his grip.
“No… don’t go,” he whispered, voice rough and breaking.
Shane’s heart clenched.“I’m right here,” he murmured immediately. “I’m not going anywhere. Okay?” He tightened his hold, pressing him closer.

"Okay, so let's say that what you're saying is correct, and he is in fact making heart-eyes at Hollander. That doesn't immediately explain moving to Ottawa for him, does it?" Troy asked, looking genuinely interested in Wyatt's theory.
"We know Ilya, don't we? When that guy likes something then he is absolutely gone for it; look at how he treats Chiron. Just imagine. He develops a crush on Shane Hollander and then decides to do anything possible to get together with him. Even if it means moving across countries and joining a shit team.
"You know… I'd be willing to see it." Bood relented. "He did start a charity with him."
Or, the Centaurs figure out how down bad Ilya is for Shane, not realizing the feeling is mutual, and decide to try and bring them together with ridiculous plans.

"What I'm saying is: maybe we could… get them together?"
Dykstra choked on the sip of beer he was trying to take, while Bood just stared at Luca as if he had just told them to set the bar on fire.
"What?" Luca's voice pitched up an octave. "We want our captain happy, right? So lets get him what he wants."
"And how, pray tell, are we supposed to do that? Do we just invite Hollander to our training facilities? Go up to him and say: hey, Hollander. I know this is like really weird but do you wanna have a look at our dog? Oh and Ilya Rozanov is here petting him. Look how cute they are." Doubt was written across Bood's face.
And eventually the team learns about fanfics 😂
"Why is there more fanfiction about Shane Hollander and Hayden Pike?" Troy glared at his phone as if it personally offended him.
"Maybe because that ship objectively makes more sense?" Harris shrugged.
"No, it doesn't! Hayden Pike is married! Both Ilya and Hollander are single. Hollanov makes much more sense." Troy said.
LaPointe: Is sending him Hollanov fanfiction subtle?
Wyatt: No!
Troy: I feel like anything could be twisted into a joke if you tried hard enough, LaPointe.
LaPointe: Yeah, you're right. Thanks Troy.

Troy: We'll play against Montreal soon. Maybe we can do something there?
Wyatt: Like what.
Troy: Shove them into a closet or something. I don't fucking know.
Wyatt: We are not shoving them into a closet.
