"Is it okay?"
Mu Qing blinks. "Is...what okay?" He looks down at the fingers idly rubbing the embroidered ribbon that ties his braid, then back at Feng Xin. "This, or you being here, or...?"
Feng Xin shrugs again. "All of it."
The swift clarity of the answer his heart provides takes Mu Qing by surprise, but he doesn't let it show. At least, he doesn't think so. He swallows thickly, then nods. He doesn't say, "of course," but he could. Maybe someday he will, maybe next time Feng Xin asks.
Somehow, Feng Xin's grin brightens. There should be a law against smiles like his, Mu Qing thinks in a moment of what must be delirium.

Summary
Feng Xin and Mu Qing may have admitted their feelings for each other and started doing the whole domestic bliss thing, but that doesn't change the fact that they're still very much Feng Xin and Mu Qing - which is to say: idiots.
“If you want me to go back to the beginning, fine, I will: I saw you first.”
“Bullshit!” Mu Qing exclaims. Feng Xin can feel one of his rants coming on, most probably the “when I was servant no one cared whether I lived or died because I was only a tool in anyone’s eyes and I had to scrape for every second of my life but somehow I also had time to create a daily skincare regime” rant, which annoys the hell out of Feng Xin. Alright, yeah, he had it tough, Feng Xin certainly had that impressed upon him during his own scant years of poverty, but this tragically overlooked angle that he’s been trotting out for centuries? That’s the real bullshit. The day Feng Xin had come to scout Mount Taicang to be sure the new residence was secure he must have seen hundreds of new people, but only one of them had stood out – and it wasn’t Mei Nianqing.
