“Yes, of course.” The witch nodded quickly, tapping her wand against a ledger. Her smile tightened, just slightly. “There was a… small issue with the reservation.”
Ron closed his eyes.
“Of course there was.”
“The conference has filled the hotel to capacity,” she continued, like she’d said the same thing a dozen times already that afternoon. “We’ve accommodated as best we can, but unfortunately…”
“Don’t,” Ron said, pointing a finger at her without opening his eyes. “Don’t say unfortunately. I hate that word.”
There was a brief pause.
“…there is only one room available under your booking.”
“With two beds,” Ron added, because surely…
The witch hesitated.
Ron felt something deep in his soul crack.
“There is one bed,” she said.

“Maybe he likes the whole freckled, redhead look for a girl, but for a guy, I’m thinking he’d prefer the taller, less ginger, more distinguished type.”
Ron blinked at him. “Are you… are you trying to describe yourself?”
