    There is no humor in the way Valentino laughs. "You fuck a guy for ten years and suddenly he thinks he's entitled to everything about you." On his next exhale, he blows all the smoke out in Vox's face.

    Vox feels his body grow hot again. This time, his chest feels tight like all the cogs in it have rusted. His fans kick into overtime. "Fuck it," he says and pushes away from Val. One of his claws catches on the thin skin stretched over Valentino's ribcage, and Val hisses. "Forget I asked."
