When August had first mentioned his dalliances with the tall, dark, and dangerous vampire.
“I’m saying goodbye.” She says, proud of the fact that she’s able to keep her voice from shaking too badly. The irony is not lost on her that she’d just given Finn a whole speech about how they’re stronger together—
“Goodbye.” He repeats, carefully enunciating each syllable. As if he doesn’t understand the meaning of the word, doesn’t want to understand. She wonders, absently, if anyone has ever broken up with him before.
Not like she’s ever broken up with someone before, so she has no way to know if she’s even doing it right.

Briar Rose blinks. Sure, August had strongly suggested that she use the paid time off that she'd accumulated since coming to Lunaris to recover from a rather serious injury she'd sustained on her latest mission, and had made it quite clear that, should she refuse, she'd be placed on mandatory leave for the remainder of the month (which, honestly, was more a punishment for them than it was for her, because mandatory leave meant paperwork—and the absolute last thing August wanted, or needed, was more paperwork). But she could leave the house anytime that she wanted... so long as August never found out that she'd left the comfort of the couch, that is. The couch that she'd been wearing a divot in for the better part of two weeks now.
Okay, so she was definitely on house arrest.

Media made being sent to the world of a game seem easy, you knew the plot, what to avoid, what to look for. The plot was always about trying to stop oneself from changing the plot and the inevitable changing of it while falling in love. No one spoke about only having inklings of a plot, scattered knowledge acquired through second hand.
But that was exactly your situation.
Finding yourself in the midst of a dark 18+ otome game where you took the place of a character destined for death. Avoiding the main character would be easy, her love interests... well, that one was harder. You had never paid much attention to your best friend's rantings about the game, so you only know small bits. But they're intrinsincly connected, right? As long as you avoid her, you avoid them.
Right?
The chances that the five hybrids you end up having to house for a month are the love interests is one in seven, you could deal with those odds. And currently your list of worries is headed by trying to keep them from maiming one another and trying to keep up with their whims.
Guess you should have paid a little more attention to what Ami had been raving about.
