Worried about splitting their group and needing to leave soon, he follows—only to witness Julien enjoying the more-than-friendly welcome of his soldiers. He stays to watch, because it’s only responsible to make sure Julien is okay, right? ...Right?

Summary
[SPOILERS TO C4E18.]
“I never really thought about it before, but I think I might like pain,” Occtis tells him. “Maybe I even liked it before, but always got too lost in all the other feelings the world had to offer to notice it. But now it’s the only feeling that I have. So I think I want to… possess it. To hold it in my hand and do with it how I see fit.”
It occurs to his social brain that every word of that confession was more alarming than the last, but it has only served to turn Julien’s expression into something avaricious and gleaming. “My ribs are still quite bruised,” he murmurs. “Be my guest.”
Occtis takes a moment to sort through his thoughts on the matter. He can hear voices from the women’s tent, but they sound faraway and untroubled.
“Your pain tolerance is good,” he decides aloud. “I trust you not to make any sound.”
“Of course I can be quiet,” Julien assures him in a honeyed tone. He assumes a more relaxed pose, resting comfortably on his side. “Go on, then. What are you waiting for? I despise cowardice in all its forms—so don’t disappoint me.”

Summary
As the Seekers make their way back towards Dol-Makjar, Occtis begins experimental trials on a new spell that should, in theory, allow him to taste and feel things as another person would. Julien volunteers to help, on the condition that he gets a copy of the spell.
Occtis really needs to remember to write in a duration to his homemade spells.

Summary
Caleb receives a vague invitation from Essek, who's calling in one of his many favors from the Nein. Of course, the invitation is for Caleb alone, at Essek's home. He really shouldn't go—it would be stupid and unsafe and altogether quite a bad idea, which Caleb's friends have no issue pointing out to him.
But Caleb is a curious man—one with a problem that perhaps Essek could help him solve.
