The weight of that truth fell between them like a boulder. And he couldn't answer. He couldn't answer, just like that. He couldn't answer, even though the notes of regret in her voice made his heart ache.
For a moment, he thought he couldn't breathe. That Tamtey, being so close, had taken all the air out of his lungs with just one question, which had placed him against that invisible wall he always put between them.
"I got used to it."
He lied again. And Tamtey laid her ears back again.
He hurt her again.
"So you take a bullet for me, but you still can't say my name?"

Her vision of the gardens blurs and sways momentarily as her foot catches on something. Before she can trip forward, Lahan sits her down on a bench.
“Did you eat buckwheat?” He asks sternly.
Maomao doesn’t remember ever telling Lahan about her sensitivity to buckwheat nor ever mentioning it in his presence. His extensive knowledge of her can only thus be the result of his freak tendencies, or worse—that monocled weirdo’s.
Yet in that fleeting second, with her burning throat and her trembling hands, annoyance doesn’t come to her.
“I don’t– I don’t know,” she says, breathless.
“How can you not know what you put in your own mouth?!”
There it is. The everlasting exasperation she feels thrumming through her veins whenever her abacus-face of a cousin finds himself in her immediate vicinity. She goes to hit his shin but loses her balance as a new coughing fit racks her body.
Or: Maomao accidentally ingests buckwheat, and it's not even an assassination attempt. Rude.

Summary
It's Soap’s fault, really. He’d set off the alarms and fucked it up, and it made the mission a million times more difficult than it should be. It had been an in-and-out mission, no engagement with hostilities supposedly.
Yet here they are, Soap bleeding out while running away, and Ghost ahead of him muttering curses under his breath. There’s a promise of a very long debriefing after this. Soap knows both from first and third hand experience.
Soap knows that he’s fucked, either way, whether or not there is an after in this.
“This feels familiar.” Soap comments,
“Las Almas.” Ghost says, and Soap could only hum to show his amusement.
And oh boy, if only Ghost knows just how similar Las Almas is to his current predicament.

OR soap gets injured and thinks that hiding said injury is a good idea.

Soap looked down at himself to get an idea what the lieutenant was freaking out about.
Ah. Blood. Quite an impressive amount, actually.
Soap gets a little bit shot. It's fine, but the shock rattles their small group, making them even closer than before. Also, there's a game of Cluedo, for some reason.

“Johnny?” Ghost pulled off his gloves, kneeling at the bedside. He could feel the heat on his palm before he even made contact with the clammy skin. His fingers found the pulse point, and his own heart beat faster. It was weak. It was too damn weak. “Fuck!”
Within seconds he had scooped Soap into his arms and started practically running down the barracks halls. People jumped out of the way, faces shocked at the unusual sight. Murmurs drowned in the sound of blood rushing in his ears.
“Hang in there, Johnny. Stay with me now.”
Soap gets poisoned. Ghost takes it as well as you'd expect.

After Ghost sees Soap’s lack of skill with knives in action, he takes it upon himself to change that. Good thing he does, because later down the line it makes the difference between life and death.
