“Why are you here?” Jotaro asks quietly. It’s so direct that it makes Kakyoin pause. He had forgotten that Jotaro hated beating around the bush.
“I could ask you the same question,” Kakyoin scoffs. “I know how to board a bus and get to a hotel on my own, you patronizing-”
“When Jiji said they were sending someone else he seriously meant you?” Jotaro questions, seemingly more to himself than anyone else, considering how he hunches inward, voice so quiet it’s almost hard to hear over the waves.
Kakyoin blinks, the heat of anger pausing in his chest due to overwhelming shock at the pure audacity. Kakyoin blinks again, and the anger resumes, about 20 degrees hotter. “Excuse me?”

Part 4 AU where Kakyoin is alive but at a cost. As he figures out how to pay that cost, he tries to help wrangle the Morioh kids while also trying not to strangle Jotaro (it'd be nice if they could also learn how to communicate again too, but Kakyoin attempts to be realistic).

Fic that genuinely makes me want too MURDER!!! I fonf even want to finish it bcs that means it'll end, that's how good this fic is. The characterization and interactions between kakyoin snd jotaro is SO BEAUTIFUL. THIS is what canon could've had. Theres such a beautif understanding of character here that should win the author a medal (or three, haha). Every scene feels so well written and like it all belongs to move the story along or enhance the relationship. The tension snd emotion and humor is PERFFECT. Ive never felt so tossed around with a fic before and i hated every bit of it (positively, i swear it). AAHHTHRHHHHSHZAZZ LOVE THIS FIC SO MUCH EVEN IF ITS BEEN FIVE YEARS. ILL LOVE YOU STILL!!!

This au single handedly made me into period au's. Both authors have impeccable writing skills with characterization and great world buidling. It makes me want to EXPLODE!!!! I genuinely love this so bad you don't get it. The dynamic between Julien and Samuel KILLS ME (very positive). I can't wait for more from both of them, I WILL be lurking in the Tumblr. Please read Flintlock Fortress, it's quite peak.
