Summary
A year after the events of ACOSF, a fragile peace has settled over Prythian. The Night Court has turned its attention back to Hybern, where governmental collapse and poor harvests have created a desperate situation for the survivors of the war. The Inner Circle must play a dangerous game of politics with the other six courts if lives are to be saved.
Meanwhile, Gwyn has left the priestesshood and committed herself entirely to the Valkyries.
