"You nearly died," he repeated. "And all I could think about were those guys, and what they said, and -"
"And what?" Buck asked softly.
"If you died, that a part of me would die along with you," he finished. "I'm not uncomfortable with you. Or because you like men. I'm not uncomfortable -" he said, finally releasing Buck's arm. "I'm scared."
Buck let the words linger in the shared space between them.
"I'm scared that I'll -" he stammered, his hands shaking.
"That you'll what?" Buck asked, his eyes, whilst full of agony, searching Eddie's. Searching.
"Enjoy it. Enjoy you."
On the way home from the life changing event in New Mexico, Buck and Eddie's car breaks down, forcing them to spend a night in a motel.
