And over the course of the decade plus of their friendship, Kakashi has come to appreciate more and more that Iruka's is such a steadfast and predictable presence, when everything else around him is anything but. If asked years ago, he would have said he could never figure out how to be friends with someone as kind-hearted as Iruka. He doesn't usually enjoy being wrong - but sometimes, it's nice.
