Suguru didn’t understand. It wasn’t that Satoru didn’t want him, or that he hated him. He could never hate him, though he tried. It was that he couldn’t process the thought of gaining Suguru back for a moment frozen in time, only to return to an empty world. This man above him, despite his faults, was the moon that hung in Satoru’s sky, the midnight breeze that kissed his skin. The world Satoru returned to would be endless, blinding light with no reprieve. There would be no quiet nights spent dreaming in a warm embrace. No words shared over steaming coffee. No fleeting touches, no heads bent together in whispered conversation.
No darkness.
Because if Satoru Gojo was the midday sun, Suguru Getou was the midnight moon, and light had no place without darkness.
