When Maglor decided they needed to bring the children to Amon Ereb with them, Maedhros said he didn't want to have anything to do with them. He kept to his word and avoided the twins, only making sure they remained safe from a carefully kept distance.

Sam grew even more upset. “Now that’s not right,” he said, “that can’t be right! Just or not – and I don’t know that it is, begging your pardon, sir – still, no story should end that way!”
