Gerard laughs, a real one, and Frank feels a queasiness that he can’t attribute to anything concrete. “What are we, five? You act like we were Montagues and Capulets. It’s fine, we can try to be friends.”
“Cool.” Frank pauses. “By the way, about the call earlier – Geoff wouldn’t let me fire you. But, like, I hope that can turn out to be a good thing. As much as I hate to admit it…”
He trails off. Gerard raises his eyebrows. “Yes?”
“God, I don’t want to say it. But I guess it’s objectively true that working with you would probably make my book better.”
Gerard laughs again. “It sure as hell can’t make it worse. I did read your manuscript, it’s awful.”
“Hey, okay. I thought we called a truce.”
“For now,” Gerard says lightly.

Summary
Life in the sleepy farm town of Belleview for Gerard Way has been living in the convenience store version of Groundhog Day Hell for the last five years straight. Home. Store. Home. Store. Full Moon. Repeat.
Their world caved in at the death of their mother and inheritance of the family business: a shitty middle of nowhere gas station convenience store combo named 'Ways To Go.' Being a werwolf is the least of Gerard's worries as they agonize over the recent relationship of their little brother Mikey and their best (only) friend Ray. Feeling like a third wheel in their own pack and a ghost in their own hometown, everything is about to change when a vampire with absolutely no one meets a werwolf who wants nothing more than to be someones.

Frank doesn't remember anything real before banishment from the NYC vampire coven. Blurry visions of dragging across the stone floor of a cellar, a hand being placed on his head, red hot blankness, vomiting mouse blood and black bile. Frank hangs onto these fragments of memories as his sole lifelines of existence.
