Summary
It was uncertain what brought Albus Dumbledore back. To 1937, no less. It was a twist of fate, or... perhaps a higher power. He did not know.
There the boy stood in front of the fireplace, with eyes so green and a toothy smile. He looked... happy, the happiest he had ever seen him. The boy had a family, and it brought him so much guilt to remember what he and the monster had taken from him.
He had failed to protect the boy once, had sacrificed his happiness, and made him suffer for a decade or more. For what? A chance to defeat a great evil instead of doing more? How "good" of him. How "selfless" and "saint-like".
No more. The boy would not suffer any longer, for there would be nothing endangering him anymore. Albus Dumbledore would act. He would ensure that those bright, innocent green eyes stayed.
