He shakes his head.
Once.Twice.
Thrice.
Convinced he is seeing a mirage of his own making. He is even tempted to rub his eyes as if that will allow him to make sense of who he is seeing. It's just not possible that Alex is here. Here in Oxford, in all his technicolour glory. Older, taller, more muscular but Henry knows the set of those shoulders and the cascading ringlets of burnished mahogany anywhere. Hell, he has done nothing but fantasise about them for the last five years. He knows how they feel as he cards his fingers through them. Can smell the shampoo that they are washed in as the smell haunts his dreams.
But it will also be the world’s worst cosmic joke if his husband is here when Henry is in his second year at Oxford. Even more so as he sees his boyfriend Tom leave the very same shop that Alex is so intently scrutinising.
