Nancy is just trying to have a nice and productive senior year with her best friend. Only the mystery of The old Hawkins abandoned lab keeps drawing her in. If only Barb wasn't trying to stop her from investigating at every turn.

Summary
Steve likes it, this easy friendship they have forming between them. Eddie is so smart and funny and kind in a way Steve wasn't expecting. Eddie's also tactile, always reaching out to touch Steve. Playfully shoving Steve or slinging an arm around his shoulders or hip-checking him while they stand side by side in the kitchen cooking.
Instead of finding it irritating though, Steve loves it. He loves the attention, the easy affection. He loves Eddie's teasing remarks and all the little nicknames he comes up with for Steve.
Eddie is fast becoming one of Steve's best friends.
There's no replacing the bond he has with Robin, and he'll always love Dustin like a brother, but Eddie is different. He fits into Steve's life in a way Steve didn't realize he needed, like a missing puzzle piece.

But then Eddie saw a whole pile of kids get in Harrington’s car, and he overheard Nancy Wheeler say that “Steve was babysitting,” and that image didn’t even remotely align with anything Eddie knew about King Steve “The Hair” Harrington, but he figured he didn’t know much, anyway, and it wasn’t any of his business, when it came down to it.
Eddie thought so little of it, in fact, that he had almost forgotten that Max had apparently been babysat by one Steve Harrington. That is, until Steve Harrington started showing up at the trailer park, picking up Max and driving away, and then Eddie wouldn’t see Max at home again for days on end.
Eddie didn’t know much about babysitting, but he was pretty sure the gigs were more of an hourly thing.

Summary
Eddie freezes, terrified that moving even an inch will break the spell. His arm stays where it is, draped across the couch, but he angles it just enough that it curves protectively around Steve’s shoulders. Not touching, not really.
And Eddie… God. Eddie’s done for. He can’t imagine a life without this guy anymore.
When did that happen? When did it change? When did Steve fucking Harrington go from the rich kid with perfect hair and too many friends to… this? To someone Eddie would fight monsters for. Someone he’d sit awake for, just to make sure he’s breathing okay. Someone who falls asleep against Eddie like Eddie is someone solid, someone safe.
It’s insane. It’s absolutely deranged. If his high school self could see this — Steve Harrington wrapped around him like some big, warm golden retriever of a hero — Eddie would’ve laughed in disbelief. Or passed out. Or both.
But reality is right here, breathing against his collarbone. Steve asleep beside him, trusting Eddie to watch over him. To stay.
Or: 5 times Steve falls asleep on Eddie and 1 time Eddie returns the favor.

Summary
Eddie's eyebrows shoot up as high as they can go. His heart is beating a rabbit rhythm against his chest. The floor below him crumbling into an abyss. He’s in free fall here, utterly helpless to the onslaught that is Steve’s confession.
Drunk confession.
The reminder does nothing to soften the blow when he feels calloused fingertips on the corner of his eye. “And your laugh lines, I don’t know anybody who has them. Not as deep as yours.” Steve’s fingers drag lower, to his cheeks, and brush against the scars on his jaw. “Has anybody ever told you that you laugh with your entire face?”
OR a reverse 5+1: The one time Steve drunkenly confesses all the things he likes about Eddie and the five times Eddie tries to fluster him with said attributes.
