Just shut your eyes and count to five. Focus on your surroundings. And most importantly... just don't die. Sounds easy on paper. But when you are over one hundred feet in the air, it seems pretty impossible. Especially when you are in a circus and are trying to keep an audience entertained and trying not to die simultaneously.

anya's eyes are bright green and wide. she holds mr. chimera close to her chest, her mouth drawn to a tight line. it reminds him of a stern teacher, that gaze. it says too much. her eyes are too intelligent, all of a sudden.
anya is a poor actor and an even worse liar, he knows.
"papa?"
"you knew," he finds himself saying.
