It's my best guess at exploring how Xaden might have felt throughout the story and features new scenes with Liam, Garrick, Imogen, Sgaeyl and Tairn. Major plot spoilers from the very first chapter.

Serena immediately froze, her eyes widening in shock at the sight of Ash covered in red from head to toe. It all had just begun and his clothes were already stained with crimson and ruined beyond salvation. Even as he beckoned her to come closer, little droplets dripped from his arm with the movement, and though those amber eyes she loved so much didn’t leave her face, the Performer was sure he must have noticed, too.
Tentatively, not sure what else to do, she ultimately complied, slowly making her way next to him. As she walked, she took in the scene before her. It was incredible how everything had been bathed in scarlet in just a matter of seconds, her worn-out sneakers and their Pokémon’s paws making splashing noises with every step they took.
She reached him in just a few strides, but as soon as she arrived, Ash turned his back to her and crouched down, picking up the projectiles from the floor. “Here,” he said, turning around slightly and handing them to her to place in her bag, “for ammunition.”

During Ash and Serena's visit to Paldea, they find out about a yearly tradition that promises to be on par with the countless other memorable experiences they've shared during their travels.

After all, he is an Eliatrope and she is a Sadida Doll; their falling in love is inevitable.

Valentine's Day was the kind of celebration Ash Ketchum had never had any interest in. A day meant to spend time with your friends and loved ones (which he had plenty of) and, more specifically, your lover (which he had none of). As great as eating your weight's worth of chocolate was, the whole romance thing just wasn't his cup of tea. So he never gave it much thought.
Until the day he fell in love with his childhood friend, that is.
Now Ash, per Brock's suggestion, will have to enlist the help of a so-called expert in romance if he wants to confess his feelings to Serena and make sure his first ever Valentine's Day is a success. It shouldn't be too hard, right?
Then why is it that being in the mere presence of this woman is making him wish Yveltal would just take his soul and put an end to his misery?
