The story begins in chaos and horror.

Elliot, the lost heir and missing civilian survivor, wakes up tied and gagged. Blood drips from his forehead as he struggles to understand what’s happening. Around him are mutilated bodies, the air thick with rot and fear. Someone — a shadowed figure — chants in a strange language, a low prayer echoing through the dark. Elliot’s muffled cries fade into silence as darkness consumes him.
Chance, a sharp-tongued field scout known as the Gambler, walks down the sterile hallways of the company headquarters. His coin flicks between his fingers — a habit when his nerves start to itch. He’s been pushing for months to get clearance to go after Elliot, who vanished during an outbreak mission.He still remembers the site where Elliot disappeared: two dead guards, blood smeared across the concrete, and Elliot’s green scarf caught on a steel grate. No trace of the man himself. Only silence.
Now, after four months of failed rescue attempts, Chance hopes the higher-ups are finally ready to send him out.
