I wrote this for the Devoted: Kagehina Domestic Week (2025) Event. I went with the prompt of "Love Language," for which I think Kageyama's is touch. Tbh, I think both Hinata and Kageyama are touch and praise oriented.

Summary
a nautical phrase: to prepare for a difficulty or crisis.
For the last few years, Kageyama Tobio's life as a pirate captain on the high seas has run like this: find the loot, score the loot, and then chase after Hinata Shouyou, who has stolen the treasure from him to get it back.
Until a mutiny forces Kageyama - out of options and out of a ship - to partner up with his rival captain in pursuit of the storied treasure, The Asteria. Kageyama would like nothing less, but left without a choice he reluctantly agrees to Hinata's terms. Their voyage takes them on a journey that's far from smooth sailing, as they both learn what it truly means to be free.
(A pirate AU; Hinata is too reckless and Kageyama just can't let go. Somewhere along the line, they'll need to meet in the middle.)

Omega college student Tobio Kageyama needs an Alpha.
He'd rather not need anyone at all. But if he doesn't want his rich parents to cut him off, he has to bring an Alpha to the family gala.
Enter Shouyou Hinata, his annoying teammate.
“Why not, um, me?”
Tobio frowned in confusion. “Why not you what?”
Hinata rolled his eyes. “Dummy-yama. Why not me, for your Alpha? For whatever you needed an Alpha for?”
Tobio almost said no, before he was struck with the very real crisis that the gala was tomorrow, and he was stuck going to his teammates for help. If it wasn’t Hinata, who would he choose, Bokuto? He shuddered.
“You free tomorrow night?”
“Yeah.”
“Do you own a suit?”
“Yeah.”
“Can you be here at seven?”
“Sure.”
“Then you’re hired,” Tobio said, and he wanted to feel relieved, but all he felt was a strange buzzing underneath his skin. Something between horror and anticipation.
A story of meddling parents, fake dating, and annoyances to lovers.

“I want to show you Rome,” Kageyama whispers, unhurried, as if he’s only just allowing himself to verbalise it. “You’ve never been here—my home here. I want you to stay. As long as you want.” He offers a small smile, adding, “Or just a couple of days. If you want.”
I’ve missed you. That’s what Hinata hears.
I’ve missed you, too. That’s what Hinata opens his mouth to reply, but swallows back.
At thirty-four, with two decades of history between them, Hinata prepares for his first visit to Kageyama's home in Italy. He packs a suitcase, full of unasked questions and one resolve.

Summary
“What is it?” Kageyama says it softly, his palm now pressed against Hinata’s face, his thumb brushing the tip of his chin.
“I’m tired,” Hinata says. “I feel it everywhere. I ache everywhere.”
He pauses into the quiet and when his eyes flicker open, he looks as uncertain as he had the day Kageyama had first met him, a whole lifetime ago—like a scared kid, unsure of his place in all of this.
He presses into Kageyama’s touch and then shifts closer, tucking his head against Kageyama’s chest.
“Yamayama,” Hinata says, taking a breath. “What if I retired?”
