Summary
Loki survives the destruction of the Statesman. He is not sure why.
Thor is pulled from the wreckage alive but broken, kept breathing by machines in the New Avengers Facility while something unseen continues to unravel him. Loki is left with the unbearable arithmetic of survival: he lived, and his brother is paying the cost.

As they are drawn together by loss and desperation, Loki and Stephen build something fragile and forbidden around Thor’s failing body, unaware that Stephen’s hidden war will demand a betrayal that will cost them far more than Thor’s life.
