> It felt like their usual dance at this point. The past few deployments have been rough on both of them and their relationship. Cyno became withdrawn. The images of what he had seen kept flashing before his eyes. Every time he stared down at his hands, he would see the blood coating them. He could still see the fading light in the eyes of his comrades and the people whose lives he had to take in order to keep his.
After adopting Collei - a sickly child the young couple met at a playground while her orphanage was taking a day trip - the bills kept piling up. It didn't matter, they still deeply loved their daughter even when the stress was pushing aside love and empathy to make room for itself. In order to keep them from drowning, Cyno joined the military to foot the majority of the bills as Tighnari took evening classes to hopefully secure a better position at the company he worked for. Until that wasn't enough.
Will they ever find their way back to each other?

He burst through the entrance door, the nurses looking up in shock. Miya was panting as he stumbled after Kojiro with their bags dangling from his bag. “We need to see Doctor Murano. Now.” The nurse sitting at the front desk frowned and opened his mouth to protest but a familiar face merely nodded and rushed off. Others came in to try to pry Kaoru out of his arms but his grip on the other remained solid. A gentle tug at his pants made him loosen his grip enough for the nurses and Doctor Murano who had arrived to maneuver Kaoru out of his arms and away. Suddenly, he felt cold, and he shifted to button up his jacket further. “Will he be okay, Joe?” His gaze flitted down to Miya who was staring up at him with wide eyes and a wobbling lower lip.

Perhaps a powder that would make the suspect more inclined to speak the truth in interrogation? A poison strong enough to take out a sumpter beast? Tighnari could certainly do that.

“Can I help you?” Alhaitham asked, settling back into his chair. He was never completely sure where he stood with Tighnari. Were they friends? Possibly. Probably. They drank together, at least. But Tighnari was a little too sharp for Alhaitham’s comfort; he always felt a little transparent under his eyes. But now those eyes weren’t focused on him. They weren’t really focused on anything. Tighnari looked half-mad with exhaustion, hair mussed and ears twitching wildly. He leaned one hand heavily against the doorway as he slumped in place.
“Where is the Temple of Silence?”When Hermanubis turns against his host and leaves Cyno near dead, Alhaitham has too little time and too much desert to search in a desperate bid to find the Temple of Silence and the only people who might be able to save him. (Oh yeah. And then maybe he can confess.)
