Summary
There's empty spaces on his walls where medals should rightfully sit, and it seems like no one sees that like Barem does. Confused and jumbled as the recognition comes, anyway. It's natural, now, the gaps where he knows stories of him being a good soldier should be. He remembers the jungles, he remembers the fire, and can't put his finger on anything else.
On a cold December night, someone steps through his door and reminds him good soldiers are still in high demand. Ones who enjoyed the good work they did, most of all.

"Yes, Great Master."
Klein coughs, in embarrassment this time rather than dryness, and asks, "Arrodes, will you… will you m-make love to me?"
"Of course," is the answer as Arrodes moves in to kiss Klein chastely, "I will do my best, Great Master."
