Summary
One day on the surface Zagreus receives his first ever prayer from a mortal, requesting his aid in the form of a boon.
The problem is, Zagreus has no idea how to answer it, and even worse, he can only hear the prayer while he is on the surface where his body is actively dying by the second.
Unable to think of anything better to do, he throws his body at the problem over and over, until one day he becomes desperate enough to defy death in the Overworld. This starts to cause problems for Thanatos’ work-life balance. -

There’s something about this fic, this canon continuance. I never thought I’d be interested in any exploration of a canon that hurt like hell, one that I watched in theatres and realized, “oh my god, they were so scared of even the possibility of Steve and Bucky looking like lovers that they threw the whole friendship out with the bath water. What happened to ‘Til the end of the line’???” Why interact with a story that feels like betrayal whenever I think of it?
Well, this one helps you through it. And you get a new perspective on who these characters are and what they needed, and that maybe they really weren’t ready yet. Maybe those boys couldn’t be what the other needed until one learned how to cool the raging forest fire of his heart (and the other learned how to love himself enough to both protect himself from the flames and to…be the fireweed that grows right after forest fires on the west coast? idk, this metaphor got away from me).
Either way, this is important to save, future me. It made you cry. And that’s ok.Now go eat dinner, ok? You had a good lunch, but you need to eat more than once!
