Summary
Trinity Santos is the only other student enrolled in this session of Driver’s Ed. She’s perpetually late (something she and Mr. Barnes have in common), abrasive, darkly funny and caustic in a way that makes Victoria’s eyes roll. They share a few classes, but haven’t had many interactions beyond the ones they’ve been forced into by virtue of proximity. Santos is a jock and spends her class periods scrawling crude graffiti on her desk in the back of the classroom. Victoria, proudly sat up front to better see the board and to make relationships with her teachers – who knows when she might need a stellar letter of rec? – pays little attention to her. They have nothing in common.
Or, what if Victoria and Trinity were in high school at the same time?

Summary
“I’m, like… twice your age.” Cassie huffs out a chuckle as she takes another sip of her drink, eyes never leaving Victoria.
Victoria would say it’s because she’s drunk, her brain a half-second behind her mouth, “That’s hot, no?”
Cassie barks out a laugh, leaning forward against the bar, enough to catch others' attention.
...
When the laughter dies down, Cassie exhales, elbow sliding onto the bar as she props her cheek in her palm, taking another languid sip.
“No,” Cassie says.
Then, after a moment of silence, their eyes still locked, Cassie continues, voice quieter “That’s usually the part where it gets complicated.”

Citygirl Victoria Javadi is head-over-heels for her friend's neighbor back home, Cassie Mckay, who just happens to be the hottest Rancher she has ever met. (She's only met one her entire life)

“Look, it’s not because I don’t,” Cassie breaks the silence, then shakes her head and looks away, a quiet noise of disbelief leaving her, “We just can’t. Okay?”
Another nod. Victoria’s mouth is incredibly dry.
“But..you want to?”
McKay lets her head hang. “We can’t. I can’t.”
“Because of your ex?” Victoria probes. Everything inside her is screaming at her to stop. She doesn’t know why she can’t. She doesn’t know why she can’t just shut up. But McKay is…right here and her messy bangs and her heavy eyes and her wet mouth just -
“Because I wanna be good,” McKay says simply.
Javadi is a nervous wreck and McKay struggles with self-restraint. Until she doesn't.

Then her first husband breaks out of Azkaban.

Nat also notices that, while in the locker room, Lottie will sometimes let her eyes wander to Van’s bare fucking back. Bra half-off and everything.
And Nat will (guiltily) stare at Lottie’s lips tucking in between her teeth in a fascinating fashion; curiosity and excitement rolled into one motion.
And then, when Van puts on her bra-clip completely and turns back around to talk to the other girls, it’s a chain reaction as Lottie jerks her head away from Van and Nat jerks her head away from Lottie.
And Nat can see why Lottie would do that. Lottie’s shy sometimes, and maybe…
…Maybe she was just looking for the brand of Van’s sports bra.
(Nat’s done that before to Jackie. And Tai. Yeah. That’s it.)
