Summary
There are few things in the world that Apollo would give the label of hate.
Loud cars, he dislikes. Cleaning the toilet at work is annoying, but probably not enough for even the dislike label. People who get on his witness stand for the sole purpose of lying, strongly dislike, but not hate. Even most criminals, he would say, don’t earn themselves the title of “hated by Apollo”.
February 14th is absolutely an exception to that rule.

It’s while watching Orym practice his sword techniques in their backyard one day that Dorian reflects on just how much he loves him. Suddenly, he realizes, I could spend the rest of my life with him. I want to spend the rest of my life with him. I think I want to marry him. Oh fuck. I want to marry Orym.
In typical Dorian fashion, the realization sends him into a little bit of a spiral.

Dorian, trying to focus on the remaining swirl of air in his lungs, shrinks into himself. “Not really,” he mutters. “The thing is – I got all I could ever need from Orym. His love, his devotion and care. I have his word, the promise he made to me, of this being what he wants. And I trust him. I trust him when he says he is happy with this, that he is excited to heal with me by his side and that he is moving on with Will’s blessing. It really is just…”
Dorian bites his lip, hoping his two friends somehow get the point he is trying to make. Even though he doesn’t even grasp it himself.
“You want Will and Derrig to tell you it’s okay too?”
It sounds so obvious, voiced like that.

Through their months traveling together, Dorian and Orym had shared rooms, beds before; usually with others piled in too, in various configurations of human and faun and dwarf and genasi and halfling. Though never pressed quite so closely together, the sensation of drifting to sleep to the rhythm of Orym’s breath was familiar to Dorian; it had long been a ritual of his, before he even knew why, and he had always found it peaceful, comforting.
Waking to the feeling of a warm, firm body pressed from chest to hip, hot breath against his bare chest was less so.

Dorian wants the two of them to have stories like the ones Orym tells him about his life with his late husband. Whatever stories they make will be different than those because Dorian isn’t, can’t be, doesn’t want to be Will. What he does want is for Orym to tell those stories in the same voice he uses to talk about the man he loved first, low and warm and spilling over with all the love he has to offer.
Of course Dorian wants this story to be perfect, and it’s because he’s thinking constantly of the pressure that comes with being Orym’s second love.

Orym rolls his eyes. Six years later and they still dote on him. He’s lucky, he reminds himself. “Yes. Good drink, good music… Questionable company aside, I’m having fun.”
“Plus the good view.” Baernie adds, motioning her mug back towards the bard, now onto another jaunty tune, but this time in a language Orym doesn’t understand. It’s all smooth vowels and soft consonants, rushing into his ear like the very wind itself. He’s already staring by the time Baernie’s words register, and he quickly brings up his mug for another long draw, hoping the tall folk sized drinking vessel covers up any hint of heat he can feel rising to his cheeks. It is a good view. He hadn’t even realized that was something he could still notice.

This is such a fucking bad idea.Per the tradition of the Silken Squall, no one may enter the Prince's quarters during his heat. Orym is tasked with keeping guard, but the Prince seems to have other ideas of how he can help.
