Summary
Max brings it up the way he brings up most things that matter to him: sideways, without looking at Daniel, in the middle of something else entirely.
They're in Max's kitchen in Monaco — the good one, the one with the window that looks out over the harbour, where Daniel has spent approximately forty percent of the last two years either eating Max's food or stealing Max's tea and pretending it was his — and Daniel is talking. He's been talking for a while. That's not unusual. Daniel fills silences like water fills a container, and Max has always let him.
"I think I just need to not think for a while," Daniel is saying. "Not about racing, not about lap times, not about any of it. I said to — I said to someone the other day, I never want to think about racing again. Not for a long time. Maybe not ever."
He laughs when he says it. A relieved laugh. A can you believe I made it laugh.
Max says, almost into the sink: "You don't have to stay. Now that you're done."

Summary
Liam's 2025 left him with nothing but an existential crisis and, annoyingly, an ill-advised interest in his ex-teammate. While things are just beginning for him and Isack, Max and Daniel have to wrestle with the fact that things are just beginning to end for them. Maybe it's too late, or maybe all four of them can find a way through the mess together.

Summary
Probably Max’s arse was sentimental about Daniel because he’d never hurt it, although he did almost break Max’s nose once kissing him against a hotel door in lovely Montmeló.
